About Emilka

Unfortunately, perinatal stroke (a common ailment in premature babies – I gave birth to her in the 29th week of gestation) caused posthemorrhagic hydrocephalus and she had to have a head valve (still works). Unfortunately, her eyes were not screwed up and today she retinopathy of prematurity the effect of which is glaucoma. After the treatment at the Medical University of Gdansk, Emily does not see at all in one eye. The other eye is -5 diopters glass. He has quadriplegic cerebral palsy in a very severe form: she does not sit, she does not control her head, she does not speak, has a variable muscle tone. She has had a surgery of her dislocated hip. She needs permanent care of an adult. The valve in the head is an aid in regulating the brain fluid pressure. Its blockage (it has happened 2 times already) causes a real life threat and a necessity of an immediate severe neurosurgery.

She understands a lot and she works with a computer very well. We begin to implement a nonverbal communication – messaging software. She is happy and cheerful. She smiles in a sweet way and I think everyone likes her. She causes no problems at school or kindergarten. At present, she attends a special school class.

About Halinka

Halinka is a very polite and charming little girl, even though as a middle child she suffers from a lack of parental attention. She loves the company of other children but the problem is that in our neighbourhood there isn’t many of them. But she spends a lot of time in the school’s common room, she attends integration classes, so she has there a chance to play with children. She exercises a lot, swims, rides a horse and attends dogtheraphy. She’s trying to be cool, but it doesn’t always work out.
