Martynka was born prematurely. She was very tiny but strong and she developed well as a baby. She is now a happy child who loves dancing, singing and playing keyboard.
In 2009 Martynka went to kindergarten for the first time and she loved it there. Unfortunately she started getting poorly and was soon diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia.
On 17th February 2010 Martynka started the chemotherapy treatment at the Haematology and Oncology Clinic in Poznan, which meant spending a lot of time in a hospital bed. Martyna was often praised by her doctors and nurses for being very brave and patient. The clinic in Poznan has kindergarten staff and many volunteers who often played with Martyna and made her feel like she’s at her own kindergarten. This was the best part of Martynka’s stay at the hospital.
Since October 2010 Martynka has been undergoing supporting treatment at home. She misses her friends a lot but, due to lowered immunity, can’t go back to kindergarten yet.
When Martyna was in hospital she received letters from her kindergarten friends. It made her very happy so I am sure that letters and postcards from Dream Post will also make her smile.
